My time in Canada has exposed me to something shocking. A wonderful show called "Da Kink in my Hair."
Set in Toronto on the infamous streets of Eglinton West, the show has the distinction of being the lone black centered series on Canadian television. It's so needed in the US now. Cablers such as BET and TV One would be lucky and smart to get the broadcast rights. I'd lean toward BET because they could create a primetime block if "The Game" should leave the CW, which is a big rumor right now.
Set in Lettie's Salon, the main characters are the responsible Novelette Campbell, the owner of the salon, her son, Dre, her outrageous sister from Jamaica, Joy Campbell, and the newcomer, to not only the salon, but carribean and black culture due to her rich white foster parents upbringing, Star.
It's from the stage play by Trey Anthony, who happens to play Joy. It's an important show in my opinion and hopefully someone will have the good sense to pick this show up.
